There as many benefits to practicing Yoga for women. You don’t have to be flexible to benefit from the practice- you just have to be present and open to a whole healing process.

Womb Yoga brings us home to ourselves as women. To honour the natural cycles of our womb life is to dance in time with the cosmic rhythms of the universe.

Women experience menstruation, pregnancy, birth, post natal recovery and menopause- with all these in mind the Yoga we practice must be one that fits with what we need and desire.

Honoring your body depending on where you are in your cycle, yoga can help with hormone balancing, anxiety and stress, period pains and menopause.

Postures / Asanas

Improved Flexibility is one of the main and most obvious benefits of Yoga. Although, not something to focus on or try and “gain” it comes with time and dedication to you practice, time, mind and your body. With time and self care you will see and feel the body open to the postures, and its no coincidence. Tight hips can strain the knee joint due to improper alignment of the thigh and shinbones. Tight hamstrings can lead to a flattening of the lumbar spine, which can cause back pain. And inflexibility in muscles and connective tissue, such as fascia and ligaments, can cause poor posture

Strong muscles help protect us from conditions like arthritis and back pain.

And when you build strength through yoga, you balance it with flexibility. Some people are more flexible, and some and stronger- with yoga you can create a balance so the body can develop both at equal measure.

Breathing / Pranayama

To be able to cultivate the tools to learn your breath and how it can help just as much as the posture with regards to opening the body and calming the nervous system is another huge benefit.

In the wold we live in, the pace we function at- we often breath short shallow breaths. This creates tensions through the whole body and therefore affects our levels of well being and happiness.
